THE KITCHEN AS ART
A STATEMENT KITCHEN DESIGN FOR TWO ART ADMIRERS
For this professional couple, it was clear that their love and appreciation of art would be present in every detail of their newly built home. They desired a contemporary kitchen that would stand as a playful object within their minimalist, art gallery-esque home. Drawing influence from the simplicity of an art gallery and the intrigue of sculptural elements, the luxury kitchen stands as a piece of art in itself.
The minimalist kitchen layout provides the backdrop for refined materials and design features. Thoughtfully designed book-matched ceramic coats the island and work surfaces, creating an intriguing abstract image. At almost three metres in length the liquid metal coated breakfast table is an understated engineering feat in itself.
“THE KITCHEN ITSELF WOULD BE A PIECE OF ART”

THE FINAL OUTCOME
CANTILEVERED BREAKFAST TABLE
A cantilevered breakfast table that slices through the stone island, as though floating. Supported by a structural frame within the island and table, this design feature is a feat of engineering.
An integrated table top coated in liquid metal adds a unique texture to the palette for this kitchen. The deep grey hues of the metal contrast the stone island which is clad in book-matched ceramic in a Carrara marble finish.
The Carrara marble ceramic wraps around the island and continues on the back wall. The grey veining adds intrigue whilst complementing the rich tones and texture of the timber cabinetry.
PETROL GLASS CABINETRY
Chunky bronze metal frames and petrol glass doors give the wall cabinets a unique aesthetic. The petrol like quality of the glass and slight transparency reflects light around the space while partially concealing the contents of the cupboards.
