Designing a More Sustainable Future
At Extreme Design, our commitment to environmental responsibility is woven into every facet of our business, from our original designs and the suppliers we work with to our day-to-day business operations. As a luxury kitchen design brand, we are on a constant mission to not only push the boundaries of design but also evolve with the needs of our clients and our planet. As we recognise the importance of a more sustainable future, we remain dedicated to continuous improvement and our environmental responsibility.
Energy Efficiency & Usage
At our Extreme HQ, we reduce our out-of-hours energy consumption by turning off office equipment, such as monitors and kitchen appliances. To reduce our carbon footprint, our head office currently uses motion sensors and timers to reduce non-essential lighting when the team aren’t using the space. As part of our efforts to become a more sustainable business, we have been upgrading our lighting to T5 LED tubes, which are 80% more efficient compared to the original T12 fluorescent lamp.
Sustainable Energy & Solar Efficiency
Using more sustainable energy, we’ve begun incorporating solar technology into our head office; we remain dedicated to expanding our use of renewable energy and working towards a net-zero impact. We are also in the process of moving to a green energy supplier for all of our studios.
Waste Management
Addressing the challenge of waste, we meticulously sort and recycle 95% of the waste generated from our projects. By consistently reviewing and optimising our waste management processes, we strive to keep waste to an absolute minimum, ensuring that we recycle as much as possible.
Paperless Working
Our commitment to paperless began back in 2012. We have developed and invested significantly in cutting-edge technology, enabling us to manage projects efficiently, promote sustainable communication, and reduce reliance on paper. Digital copies take precedence over print, and when printing is necessary, we collaborate with carbon-neutral print partners to eliminate excess waste. In our constant quest for a sustainable future, we aim to use only recycled and sustainably sourced materials by 2025.
Supply Chain
In collaboration with partners who share our sustainability goals, we are pioneering innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint. We only work with suppliers that share our sustainability goals. From investing in renewable energy sources to optimising production processes and minimising supply chain waste. Working with our partners, we are reshaping the narrative of sustainable kitchen manufacturing.
Durable, Timeless & Sustainable Kitchens
We believe that sustainability begins with longevity; that’s why our furniture is designed to last for a lifetime—over 20 years. Even now, we are servicing kitchens from our earliest projects, showcasing our commitment to minimising waste and contributing to a circular economy.
Rehoming Your Old Kitchen
Renovating your kitchen is an exciting endeavour, but what do you do with your old kitchen? To reduce waste, we can advise on solutions for rehoming your old kitchen prior to your Extreme kitchen installation.
Responsibly Sourced Materials
Our dedication to sustainability extends to the materials we use. We exclusively source responsibly harvested wood-based materials from British and European suppliers committed to fair manufacturing processes. Our ongoing efforts include designing eco-friendly kitchens made from recycled materials and non-harmful chemicals.
Green Fleet
In 2023, we began to transition to a hybrid and electric vehicle fleet, reducing our carbon footprint. To promote the use of electric and hybrid cars, we have installed EV charging points at our HQ for our staff and customers to use freely.
Local Businesses & Employee Training
Supporting local businesses and engaging our employees in sustainability initiatives are integral to our ethos. Training programs on sustainable practices foster a culture of environmental responsibility within our team.
