TRANQUILLITY IN NATURE
A SERENE & CALM CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN
THE INSPIRATION
This couple are always on the move, between juggling the children’s schooling and hobbies and travel for business, they have few moments when they are all together. When they are, they spend their time enjoying the outdoors. From walks close to home in Virginia Water to activity-filled holidays overseas; they love to be at one with nature.
The design concept combines influences from the couple’s lifestyle and tastes. As the kitchen would be a family space, the precious moments spent together outdoors played a key role in the design story. Specifically, the Autumnal colours of their walks in Virginia Water and Redwood trees. Their vision was for their home to be a refuge, with a sense of tranquillity and calmness to balance their active and fast-paced lives. For her, the luxury spas she visits epitomise the ambience they hoped to achieve in their home.
The final design combines organic materials, forms and colours with a clean, linear design treatment to create a sense of order, tranquillity and harmony. A welcome refuge and a space where they simply love to be.
Active, outdoor family life balanced by calm, clean interiors

THE DESIGN CONCEPT

THE FINAL OUTCOME

SYMMETRICAL FORM
A truly balanced kitchen, every element is designed to create a feeling of balance. The wall cabinet doors are individually designed, with an angled linear liquid bronze coating that radiates from the kitchen’s central point. These lines transfer to the angled tall cabinets which are outlined by a dark, stained timber frame and bronze metal inlay.

A PERFECT PLACE TO REFLECT & UNWIND
The bespoke bar provides a dedicated space to store a selection of their favourite wine and glassware, a striking statement piece that adds a touch of glamour, especially for evenings entertaining friends.
The bronze mirrors with custom laser cut metal overlay on either side of the bar draw influence from their love of the outdoors. Angular design details and bronze accents continue the design narrative and maintain the connection to the kitchen.

HIDDEN TECHNOLOGY
In response to his passion for technology, the kitchen design includes the latest Gaggenau 400 Series appliances accompanied by additional surprise tech features. However, the presence of technology is subtle and discreet in order to maintain the design’s symmetry, balance and sense of calm.
The Gaggenau ovens and warming drawer are hidden within a pocket door pantry, whilst a Gaggenau combined hob with downdraft extraction negates the need for a ceiling mounted cooker hood.

SOOTHING WAVES
A Blue Fusion Quartzite was individually sourced for its tone and pattern which is reminiscent of the tranquillity and energy of the waterfall in Virginia Water. The organic pattern enhances the connection with nature, whilst the swirling veins bring fluidity to the design.

FEATURE BREAKFAST BAR
The timber feature seating area is positioned centrally on the kitchen island. An angled frame with bronze inlay chamfers inward, drawing the focus toward the Blue Fusion Quartzite which is illuminated with feature LED lighting.
