THE PROJECT
Nestled within a serene pine woodland in Berkshire, our clients’ residence offers refined living in a picturesque natural setting.
The property boasts a private, secluded plot that looks out onto a woodland of mature pine trees with a generous garden where deer often graze the lawn. There is an exceptional outdoor entertainment area with a bar and BBQ space where the family enjoys watching sports amidst nature. This profound connection to the outdoors became the cornerstone of our kitchen design.
THE KITCHEN
Our clients wished to draw inspiration from the rich textures and hues of the woodland outlook. The warmth of their internal walnut doors served as a guiding element, leading us to incorporate complementary materials and tones that resonate with the home’s natural setting.
Central to the kitchen’s aesthetic is a striking stone selection. The clients’ existing outdoor bar features stunning black and orange granite, and the Extreme designers sought a counterpart to harmonise with this while introducing rich gold and copper veining. This stone not only serves as a visual focal point but also encapsulates the surrounding woodland.
ORGANIC SCULPTURAL KITCHEN ISLAND
The kitchen features a statement stone and timber island, with an angled slab on the front that layers over fluted walnut panelling. Book-matched granite creates an immediate impact with its dramatic veining of rich golds, deep blacks, and warm coppers.
The organic movement in the granite’s veining creates a visual contrast to the linear timber detail, giving the island an organic, sculptural presence.
A LAYOUT GUIDED BY VIEWS
The kitchen layout creates a sociable entertaining space while seamlessly orienting towards the garden, offering our clients spectacular views.
The island becomes the central gathering spot, with the hob facing the living area for seamless interaction with guests while cooking. In the bay window, circular bar seating offers an inviting nook to relish the panoramic views of the woods.
THE TAILORED PANTRY
The pantry integrated within the centre of the kitchen ensures the space remains uncluttered and impeccably organised. Thoughtfully tailored to the client’s lifestyle, the pantry features a dedicated coffee station illuminated with warm ambient lighting. Pocket doors retract into the cabinetry, allowing flexibility to use this as an open area or close it away for an uncluttered aesthetic.
This niche offers a personalised brewing experience, allowing our clients to enjoy their daily rituals in a space that feels both luxurious and effortlessly practical.
THE BOOT ROOM
Seamlessly continuing the materiality from the kitchen, the boot room pairs functionality with refined design. Dark cabinetry with warm brass hardware provides ample storage, while the fluted walnut panelling and striking book-matched granite add layers of depth and texture. The raised washing machine and dryer offer ergonomic convenience, with pull-out shelves below where laundry baskets can be placed while loading and unloading. A dedicated seating area, complete with coat hooks and soft lighting, offers a welcoming zone to remove shoes and coats after spending time outdoors.
Designed for everyday practicality without compromising on style, this boot room is an elegant extension of the kitchen’s aesthetic, ensuring cohesion and effortless luxury throughout.
