THIRLSTONE
A SHAKER KITCHEN WHERE HERITAGE MEETS MODERNITY
THE PROJECT
Our long-standing collaborations with Park Lane Developments and Hill House Interiors have culminated in another exquisite home on the prestigious St. George’s Hill Estate, Surrey.
This 11,000 sq ft classic modern home perfectly marries timeless elegance with contemporary refinement. Park Lane Development’s passion for architectural design is evident in its elegant external architecture. Internally, the interior scheme by Hill House Interiors is gentle and calming, with neutral tones and quintessential materials fusing classic and modern styles.
Park Lane Developments appointed Extreme to create furniture for several rooms to complement the interior scheme, encompassing a kitchen, prep kitchen, laundry room, boot room and staff accommodation kitchen.

THE OUTCOME
The Extreme kitchen is a masterpiece of classic English craftsmanship, reflecting the home’s heritage and architectural essence. The furniture is bespoke, handmade, and hand-painted, embodying handcrafted furniture’s traditional values and artistry. Yet, this is not a traditional design; it is a thoughtfully balanced blend of classic and modern influences.
The kitchen design is mindful and pairs back the embellishments found in conventional traditional kitchens to avoid over-detailing. Instead, it finds the perfect equilibrium, offering just enough intricacy to showcase the craftsmanship while maintaining a sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic.
The cabinetry, extending to an impressive 2.8 meters, enhances the ceiling height and creates a sense of grandeur. The kitchen subtly reflects the building’s classic architectural elements, with detailed framing around the doors, which remain understated, and a reimagined contemporary mantle. A hidden door seamlessly leads into a walk-through pantry, adding an element of surprise and practicality.
