THE PROJECT

After acquiring a property in a highly sought-after area, our clients demolished and rebuilt it to create their dream family home. The house was built with Victorian-inspired architecture to retain the local area’s heritage. Victorian style formed a core component of the design atmosphere, with period features running through the house, from high ceilings and fireplaces to ceiling roses and window shutters.

As an interior-design-led couple passionate about design, they had a strong vision centred around linear design, quality materials and dramatic contrasts between light and dark finishes. The home is filled with fun, playful, and highly functional ideas to make family living effortless and enjoyable for everyone, such as the spiral slide into the basement, complete with a dance floor and disco lighting.

THE FINAL OUTCOME

WARMTH & CONTRAST

A design of dramatic contrasts, the kitchen features jet-black cabinetry and fixtures combined with fresh, white worktops with brown veining. Cabinetry in rich timber continues the moody aesthetic and offers texture to juxtapose the grey resin floor.

AN INVITING SENSE OF LUXURY

This kitchen feels simultaneously luxurious and casual. The splashback features a bespoke mirrored finish crafted from 12 carat white gold applied with a mesh texture, an elegant and truly unique design feature. In contrast, the open timber shelves create a more informal and playful style by creating space to display crockery, plants and ornaments.

COMFORTABLE COOKING

The generous five-metre island is zoned to maintain a comfortable cooking experience, with cooking at one end and breakfast bar seating at the other. A Bora induction hob with downdraft extraction is positioned on the island in a sociable layout oriented toward the dining table and banquette seating. The bank of Gaggenau appliances includes two ovens, a steam combi and a warming drawer; all finished in Anthracite to blend with the surrounding cabinetry.
