CONNAUGHT HOUSE

A MODERN CLASSIC KITCHEN SHAPED BY CLASSICAL SYMMETRY AND CONTEMPORARY EXPRESSION

A Neo-Georgian Residence on the Wentworth Estate, Virginia Water

Set within the prestigious enclave of Wentworth, Surrey, this exceptional Neo-Georgian residence was conceived with both architectural gravitas and deeply personal narrative at its core. Designed by property developer Montreaux Developments, the home draws inspiration from The Connaught hotel – a place of enduring significance and refined elegance – with interiors by Alexander James Interiors.

The property balances classical British architecture with contemporary luxury, echoing the Connaught’s own juxtaposition of heritage and modernity. Grand proportions, generous ceiling heights, and carefully considered symmetry establish a sense of calm permanence, while subtle Art Deco influences introduce a layer of glamour and individuality.

THE KITCHEN

At the heart of the home, the kitchen is a masterclass in “classic modern” design, where traditional influences meet contemporary detailing. The layout is driven by strong architectural centre lines and expansive circulation spaces, tailored to both the scale of the property and the lifestyle of its owners.

Layered materials and finishes create a rich, tactile environment. Art Deco-inspired shaker cabinetry in light stained ash is paired with high gloss veneers, establishing a refined dialogue between matte and reflective surfaces. Bronze-tinted glazing, silver leaf églomisé mirrors, and carefully integrated display cabinetry introduce moments of theatre, while a concealed door seamlessly connects the kitchen to the formal dining space – preserving visual continuity and flow.

The kitchen is conceived as a statement of intent, expansive, composed and effortlessly refined. Impressive in scale and exacting in detail, it embodies a quiet, assured luxury that resonates throughout the home.

Luxury Kitchen with Island Wentworth Virgnia Water

LIQUID METAL FEATURE PANEL

The island commands attention as a sculptural focal point, defined by it’s generous curved form that encourages gathering. Coating the curved breakfast bar is a striking liquid bronze feature panel, that introduces texture, movement and refinement. The bronze coating is lit from above, highlighting the texture of the surface while creating visual interest.

This is an island that feels inviting, underpinned by a quiet sense of drama.

TIMBER & STONE DETAILING

The perimeter cabinetry introduces a stepped timber design, echoing the architectural language of the home while adding depth and structure. The layering of light stained ash alongside gloss veneers creates a sophisticated tonal balance, enriched further by bespoke bronze hardware.

Worktops in quartz and book-matched porcelain are elevated with a pronounced downstand, reinforcing the sense of solidity and craftsmanship. Notably, the integration of Gaggenau hob controls directly into the stone downstand enhances usability while ensuring uninterrupted visual lines.
