luxury kitchen banquette seating dining table

Extreme Design has been shortlisted for a second design award this year. This time, for a KBB Design Award in Society of British & International Interior Design Awards 2021.

The Lake House is a magnificent family residence, nestled within a stunning rural corner of Hertfordshire. Approached via a sweeping tree lined drive, the property boasts a stunning lake, waterfall area and vast views of the English countryside.  After purchasing the property in 2016, the clients planned to carry out extensive refurbishment work to re-style every aspect of their new home.

Extreme Design collaborated closely with the designers at Alexander James Interiors to create a kitchen that complements the overall design scheme for the property and builds upon the design story to create a luxurious and elevated living experience within the heart of the home. Extreme Design’s unique approach to design gave them the freedom to design every detail of the client’s kitchen to suit their personal style. The elegance, sophistication and character of Art Deco design had captured their imagination and would form the basis of their homes interior design narrative.

Influenced by The Churchill Bar and Terrace at the Hyatt Regency in London, the client wanted the design to not only work as a functional family living space but also exude luxury and exhibit a strong nod towards their love of everything art deco. From the geometric forms of the custom stepped shaker doors to the layered timber, metallic bronze and marble framing detail surrounding the cabinetry. The quintessential sunburst pattern appears in custom glazing throughout the design, creating a feature of the hidden Sub-Zero refrigeration and forming the focal point of the room. The glazed details also frame the Wolf range cooker and hood either side of the stunning marble splashback, continuing the art deco narrative throughout the space. The use of rich and dark materials with custom brass fixtures and accessories lifts the design and gives the kitchen a contemporary essence that also remains sympathetic to the property’s classic architectural style.

Bespoke TV Cabinet in Luxury Kitchen

The kitchen is designed to merge style with everyday family life. The island creates a functional and social interface, allowing the kitchen to flow seamlessly into all corners of the room. The bespoke banquette seating area is integrated into the island, maximising space, and creating an ergonomic flow to enter the garden or adjoining formal dining room. The introduction of an oval ceiling coffer in the centre of the room provides equilibrium within the space and forms a connection between the kitchen and informal dining area.

As a functional family living space, the clients required a television area that could be viewed from the dining table. Extreme designed the custom media furniture to disguise the television and create a feature of this wall. Dark timber, layered frame details and bespoke lighting continue the design narrative from the kitchen to create one cohesive environment.
