The interior design events catching our eye in 2019
2019’s design season is just beginning to get into full swing. As 2018 came to a close, we found found ourselves reminiscing about the great UK interior design events that really grabbed us last year. From Clerkenwell Design Week in May to September’s London Design Biennale and – one of our favourites – The Decorex Design Show, last year delivered some truly wonderful interior design shows.
This year’s Surface Design Show has passed us by and we’ve recently visited the London Design Week, needless to say, we’re excited to take a look at the other design events coming up this year. We’re intrigued to see the contents of each show this year and we’ve no doubt that the following shows will offer a wealth of inspiration to both home owners and industry professionals around the UK and overseas.
Surface Design Show
When? 5th – 7th February
Where? Business Design Centre, Islington
The Surface Design Show took place in February. More than 170 exhibitors displayed some of the most cutting edge materials for interior and exterior surfaces that are sure to leave any designer with plenty of inspiration for their next project, and any home owner dreaming about the surfaces they could have in their own home.
Looking back to 2018, you may remember from our review of the event that our designers noted geometric patterns and dyed marble as being amongst the most represented trends at this year’s show.
London Design Week
When? 10th – 15th March
Where? Design Centre, Chelsea
We visited the London Design Week earlier this month and were reminded of the sheer size of the show, with design trends on display from over 600 brands across 120 showrooms. A particular highlight of the show included brands mixing pop culture figures from the worlds of rock music, fashion and the arts with prevailing interior design trends.
For those of you who are thinking of attending next year’s London Design Week, we would certainly recommend attending the ‘Access All Areas’ features of the event. Featuring interviews
with designers, archivists and design historians, the London Design Week can really help to open your mind to the biggest trends in the design world today.
Ideal Home Show

Where? Olympia, Kensington
As the world’s longest-running exhibition – not just in the field of interiors, but overall – we are always excited to see what will be introduced at the Ideal Home Show, now in its 111th year. The show may not always showcase the kind of cutting edge luxury that Extreme deliver, but the hundreds of exhibitors who arrive every year always have something that catches our eye.
The Ideal Home Show delivers something for every homeowner. From technological innovation to the biggest interior trends of the year, you are certain to uncover something amazing. The show also hosts talks from some of the biggest names in interiors, as well as workshops, beauty treatments and a champagne bar.

While not wholly a design event, many of the 580 exhibitors specialise in nautical interiors for yachts of all sizes.
