Summer 2020 saw the launch of Hampton Place, a magnificent country mansion located within the internationally acclaimed Wentworth Estate. Hampton Place is one of the latest speculatively built residences by renowned developer Octagon Developments. As a trusted, long-standing partner of Octagon, Extreme was appointed to carry out the design and installation of the kitchen, separate walk-in larder, utility and staff kitchen within the staff accommodation.

In this article, we share an exclusive peek behind the doors of this luxury home, complete with beautiful photography. We speak with Tim Banks, CEO of Octagon, to learn about the vision for the project and Extreme’s Creative Director, Marcello Cuconato, shares Extreme’s approach to the design of the kitchen…

Luxury Surrey Home

The Property

Hampton Place is an individual home finished to the highest specification, in arguably one of the finest addresses in Surrey. As a speculative build at such a high value, the property was completed and fully furnished before being opened for viewings.

The residence, which sold within a few months of coming to the market, is a spacious luxury home offering over 11,000 sq ft of accommodation over 3 floors. The expansive accommodation includes an impressive galleried hallway, 6 reception rooms, stunning kitchen/breakfast room and leisure complex comprising an indoor swimming pool with integrated jacuzzi, steam room, gym, games room and a lift to all floors, including a sky lounge and balcony on the top floor.

The grand principal suite has twin en-suite bathrooms and dressing rooms, as well as a large roof terrace that overlooks the south-facing gardens. The property also offers a staff suite and integral garaging for 3 cars, all located within a beautifully landscaped, electrically operated gated plot of circa 1 acre.

The Developer’s Vision

Tim Banks, CEO of Octagon, comments: “Hampton Place is a prime example of what we are known best for at Octagon – pairing timeless architecture with state-of-the-art modern living.

Our aim for the interiors of the property was to take traditional materials such as marble and glass and use them in a contemporary manner, whilst seamlessly integrating the latest home technology and always maximising on natural light.

Luxury Kitchen Open Plan Lounge

The kitchen was an important part of that vision, forming the focal point within the expansive super-room encompassing kitchen, dining and living areas. We asked Extreme to come up with a design that complemented the neutral palette used throughout the interiors, but that didn’t simply blend in. As the entertaining heart of the home, we wanted a kitchen that would be eye-catching within the space, whilst complementing the understated elegance of the property.”

The Kitchen

The kitchen is the centre of an open plan super room encompassing the kitchen, informal lounge and breakfast dining area which boasts views overlooking the south-facing garden and an internal view through to the indoor swimming pool. Complemented by a formal dining room, drawing room and TV den, the role of this super room is an expansive yet comfortable environment in which the future owners, their family and friends can congregate.

“We began the design phase of Hampton Place in the same way as we do all of our projects, by understanding the vision for the build”, says Marcello. “We worked closely with Octagon Developments to understand their architectural direction for the property and used this as our guide to creative thinking. As Hampton Place was to be a speculatively built home rather than one built on behalf of an end client, we looked to the property to lead the design narrative and drew inspiration from the classic architectural style and elegant interior design scheme.”

Luxury home with contemporary kitchen and dining area

The kitchen has a feeling of luxury which mirrors the details and refinements that run through the property, we used a beautiful mix of materials to create a rich, sumptuous colour scheme. The cabinetry combines high-gloss timber with a bronze metallic accent, these are complemented by a marble effect stone and bronze mirror feature on the island. Feature lighting illuminates the underside of the breakfast bar, creating a warm glow and adding a touch of glamour.
