Bugatti and the Bespoke
Bugatti, the French manufacturer of high-performance automobiles, was founded in 1909 in the then German city of Molsheim in Alsace, by Italian-born Ettore Bugatti. The brand’s beautiful cars have historically been designed to a standard arguably unparalleled by any other manufacturer. Ettore himself was from a family of artists and he considered himself to be both artist and constructor. It is to his exacting standards that the brand adheres to even now.
But it was actually an interview with the brand published in Brummel Magazine about their recently launched fashion line that really resonated with us here at Extreme. The lifestyle section of their brand, which sees Bugatti applying its high values within the luxury car market to the luxury fashion industry, was launched a few years ago. It began by offering a limited edition of every product: only 431 of each item was made – a number that matches the world-record speed of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
Since then the brand has decided to deliver the next level of exclusivity. They now offer clients the opportunity to build tailor-made pieces by visiting their Brompton Road store and consulting with a tailor to create a unique wardrobe sculpted by Bugatti’s top-quality craftsmen.
It is this relationship with the ‘bespoke’ that mirrored Extreme’s own attitude to personalisation. Within the article, Jonathan Clay, the brand’s head tailor comments: ‘It’s not even fair to talk about “bespoke” or “made to measure”. This is “custom-built”. It’s a technical detail but, at the end of the day, this is [more in keeping with] the origins of the company. It’s what Bugatti does with a car.’
Like Bugatti, we too pride ourselves in focussing on the ‘custom-built’ understanding that each of our clients desires a truly unique living space with design elements and practical features that specifically compliment their style and lifestyle.
