One of Extreme’s latest commissions is a luxury kitchen design created for one of the country’s most prestigious property developers. This private mansion is located in the internationally acclaimed St. George’s Hill, Weybridge, Surrey.

Extreme’s Creative Director, Marcello Cuconato, shares Extreme’s approach to the design for this inspiring living space.

“Properties such as this stand apart from others on the St. George’s Hill. This level of desirability needed to be reflected in all aspects of the interior.

“With such a large space, the challenge was to create a beautiful design which was stylish and elegant yet retained a significant presence in the space. It was a fine balance, in essence we were conscious of neither wanting to dominate the space nor get lost in its vast proportions.

“The principle for the design was to use depth perception to break up such a large run of furniture. The intersection of shapes and forms inter-playing with each other became the basis for the island and the resulting scheme.

“The fusion of beauty and functionality is central to every Extreme design, although never more so than when creating a space which is to be used for high life and entertaining. It was imperative that, whilst the layout offered symmetry and balance, it also offered an ergonomic flow suitable for both practical family living and entertaining.

“One of the main features of this interior is the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the landscaped gardens and golf course beyond, encouraging a wealth of light to enter the space. Although beautiful, this abundance of light had to be carefully considered when planning the kitchen design to ensure that the sun’s beams would be reflected without being overpowering. To achieve this, we opted for custom gloss veneer in a rich hue for the cabinetry, which elegantly reflects light around the living space, whilst adding warmth and contrast.
